Artificial turf — also called synthetic turf or artificial grass — is a manufactured grass surface that holds its color year-round with no mowing or watering and stands up to foot traffic, pets, and play. The more useful question is which turf, and that comes down to how the space gets used, not to one product outranking another.
We carry four landscape turf products, and the differences are density, feel, and price. Lush Primo is the thickest and most dense (1.77-inch pile, 100 oz) for premium front-yard curb appeal; Lush 80 (1.58 inch, 81 oz) is the balanced everyday pick for lawns, pets, and traffic; Lucky 77 (1.5-inch monofilament) is the durable, deep-green choice for contractor and commercial jobs; and Lush 70 (1.38 inch, 70 oz) keeps costs down on larger, value-conscious areas. Compare the full specs below, then match one to your project.
The spec that actually changes your decision is pile height and total weight — how tall and how dense the turf feels underfoot. Lush Primo leads at 1.77 inches and 100 oz for a plush, full-bodied look; Lush 80 sits in the middle at 1.58 inches and 81 oz; Lucky 77 runs a 1.5-inch durable monofilament; and Lush 70 is the lightest at 1.38 inches and 70 oz.
Underneath, the build is consistent: Lush 80, Lucky 77, and Lush 70 use a heat-reducing W-Blade fiber, while Lush Primo uses a softer C-Blade for a plusher feel — all over a soft thatch on a Double PP (polypropylene) backing with a polyurethane coating and perforated drainage holes, using UV-stabilized, fade-resistant fibers for high-sun climates. In other words, the real difference between products is density and feel, not build quality — so choose for how the space looks and gets used rather than by chasing a spec sheet.
A great turf result depends as much on the base as the turf itself. Most installs use a compacted aggregate base, a clean weed barrier, secure edges, sand-filled seams between rolls, and the right infill to support the blades and help the surface wear evenly and drain well.
We supply turf and materials and support both DIY homeowners and professional installers. Use our calculators for measuring your area and estimating turf and sub-base materials, then talk to our team about base prep, seams, infill, and project planning before you order.
Heat and water are the two things Arizona buyers ask about first. Switching from a natural lawn to artificial turf removes ongoing irrigation — and outdoor watering is a real share of the bill: the EPA estimates landscape irrigation accounts for about 30% of household water use nationally, and as much as 60% in the dry Southwest. In a desert climate, that is the savings people actually notice. Utah projects more often value four-season, low-maintenance landscapes and recreation space.
On heat, surface temperature in high-sun areas depends on the product, infill, shade, and surrounding hardscape, so we help you plan a heat-conscious setup rather than relying on the turf alone. The W-Blade fiber used across most of the lineup is built with heat resistance in mind, and lighter-colored infill plus nearby shade make a noticeable difference. Ask about heat-conscious options when you request an estimate.
One of the biggest reasons people switch to artificial grass is how little upkeep it needs — no mowing, watering, or fertilizing. Routine care is simple: occasionally brush the fibers against the grain to keep them upright in high-traffic spots, and rinse with a hose to clear dust, pollen, or pet use.
Because our turf uses a perforated drainage backing over a compacted base, water and rinse-off drain through quickly. For pet areas, the right infill and an occasional enzyme rinse help keep the surface fresh, and spot-cleaning spills as they happen keeps the lawn looking green and clean year-round.

Artificial turf is widely used across Arizona because it stays green without watering. Surface temperature in high-sun areas depends on the product, infill, shade, and surrounding hardscape, so we help you plan a heat-conscious setup for your space rather than relying on the turf alone.

The turf itself runs from about $1.19 per square foot for Lush 70 up to $1.89 for Lush Primo (Arizona pricing; Utah is a little higher), and your total also depends on base prep, infill, square footage, site access, and whether you install it yourself or hire a pro. Our calculators estimate turf and sub-base materials before you request a quote, and contractors can ask about wholesale pricing. Contact The Turf Yard for current pricing and a free estimate.
A W-Blade is a turf fiber shaped like the letter W. The shape adds structure that helps with heat resistance and durability under foot traffic while keeping a natural look. Lush 80, Lucky 77, and Lush 70 use a heat-reducing W-Blade fiber; Lush Primo uses a softer C-Blade for a plusher, more premium feel.
Lush Primo, Lush 80, and Lucky 77 ship in 15 ft wide rolls, and Lush 70 ships in 12 ft — all custom cut to your length, up to 100 ft, so you only order what your project needs. Use the artificial turf calculator to estimate square footage, and our team can help plan rolls and seams.
